The project proposes an artistic intervention that connects the local population, seasonal tourism, and the city’s architectural remains. The aim is to trigger an urban dialogue and subtly activate political awareness — first by raising questions among residents and visitors, and later by encouraging reflection and potential action.

The most fundamental aspect of the project lies not in the final installation, but in its preparation. Each photograph, sketch, and painterly reworking emerged from conversations. The process itself became central: it established the trust necessary for each participant to reveal a more intimate dimension of themselves. It was a slow, uncertain process that lasted an entire year. Its most compelling aspect was the unpredictability of human interaction and the deep emotional bond with the territory that gradually surfaced.

The final images were printed as paper posters of varying sizes and installed on the walls of abandoned seaside buildings facing the beach. Positioned on the sea-facing facades, the portraits create a visual dialogue: once mounted, the subjects appear to gaze toward the horizon, as if searching for hope in a different future.

The seaside placement was also intentional for material reasons. The salt air and strong coastal winds accelerate the deterioration of the paper surface, allowing corrosion to become part of the work. Over time, this process makes the themes of fragility, impermanence, and transience increasingly visible — reinforcing the conceptual core of the project.

THE STORY OF URBAN FACES

"THEY WILL ALL BE FORGOTTEN
LIKE THESE PLACES, LIKE THINGS, AS TIME PASSES.
THEIR STORIES WILL CRUMBLE
LIKE THESE WALLS WHEN THEY ARE TORN DOWN,
LIKE ALL THINGS OVER TIME."
